Dashboard Brake Light On
Emergency brake is on or you have a serious drop in hydraulic pressure. If the emergency brake is not on, your brakes may be near total failure. This is one of those situations where you should immediately stop driving your Chevrolet and call the dealership. |

|
|
Drag
Sticking brakes, hot wheels or engine that seems to have lost power. You may also smell a burning odor as your brakes may be failing to release. You can do serious harm to your brake system if you continue to operate your vehicle. If you feel the brakes release pay close attention to see if the problem reoccurs. This is often a sign of impending brake component failure. |

|
Grabs
"Touchy" brakes that grab with the least pressure. Many of today’s vehicles, including new Chevrolets, use computer assist when you apply your brakes. The problem of touchy brakes may indicate a problem as simple as grease or oil contaminated lining - or as serious as a loose or broken components ready to fail in an emergency. |

Hard Pedal
Requires extreme pressure to make brake function. Can indicate power brake trouble, restricted hydraulic lines, frozen calipers or wheel cylinders, or damaged brake linings. |

|
|
Low Pedal
Pedal nearly touches floorboard before brakes function. May activate your brake warning light. Problems may require a simple adjustment or indicate something much more serious. Generally a low pedal along with squealing is an indication of the need to replace your brake pads or rotors. |

|
|
Pull
Car pulls to one side when brakes are applied. May be an under inflated tire, misadjusted brakes on your Chevyrolet. |

|
Squeal
Brakes should operate with a minimal amount of noise. Some noise is normal but excessive squeal, screech, grinding, groaning, chatter, clatter or bang means your brakes need attention. Often times the difference between replacing just the brakes and replacing the brakes and rotors depends on how quickly you can get the car to the Chevrolet Service. Center. |

Vibration
Brake pedal, steering wheel or entire vehicle shakes, vibrates or pulsates when brake is applied. May indicate need to resurface disc brake rotors - or signal a serious problem of a loose component or faulty steering mechanism. |
